Summary:
Our club’s main competition, IVP, is drawing near.
We have trained hard for a long time, with proper sports science and methods. We have sacrificed many hours and have soaked our track with our sweats in the process. We have many dedicated coaches who have planned out our training programmes to prime us for this big day.
We are ready.
Do not be discouraged by the saying that the university athletes are stronger. They are just as human as us. History and reputation does not play a part in deciding the event’s champion.
Feel no fear as you compete with a national athlete, but enjoy the adrenaline rush and the event.
This journey has not been an easy one. Being an individualistic sports, like swimming, there were many arguments over facts and belief. However, it is time to put our differences aside.
It is time for us to compete, cheer and aid as one.
For at the end of the day, we gather together as a SP team and not as a sprinter, runner, thrower, hurdler or jumper.
As a united team, we will put awe and envy into even the strongest athlete, who is strong, but may not have a bonded team with share his joy with.
Our athletes do not compete alone. Instead, together with his supporters and helpers he completes his event.
So IVP is not just for athletes, it is also for seniors and juniors who are not in the competing team, but take part morally, winning the event with the athlete.
Hence, it will be great to see supporters and helpers during the events taking part in IVP as one big team.
On a side note:
Alan is unable to turn up for day 1 of IVP. He has been tasked with organising the POL-ITE Bowling Championship on the same day.
Terence, another SP Club Officer, will be taking his place.
